I have researched and shortlisted possible names for my magazine. It is important that i establish this, so i can make my designs for the layout and fonts of my magazine. I have put the possible names on survey monkey so i can ask more memebers of the public their opionion on the best name and i have asked friends and family-whom fit my specific target audience to share their preferable name.

In order to aid me in my Preliminary Task, i made a mood board of current school prosepctus;s and magazines currently available, promoting school's in society. This has enabled me to identify the key conventions included in a school magazine-that persuade and entice people to come to the school.
I will therefore use these conventions in my own task, which will hopefully make mine a sucess.
Here are some images of the mentioned 'Classical music artists and composers' that I am thinking of editing into my magazine. This will make the magazine attract the specific audience, as classical music fans will be drawn to images of important people in that industry.
In addition it will make my magazine look professional and of a classy, high standard which is ultimately what I am aiming for.

PROPOSAL:
Based on data and evidence from my questionnaire and existing product research, i have decided on the theme, vauge layout, information, type of image, price, issue frequency for my magazine.
The genre i have put forward for my magazine is classical, this is because i have acessed the market and people feel the genre, classical is lacking in the market so I feel by producing a classical music magazine i can bring something new into the market.
The target audience of which the classical genre mainly appealed to was, classical music students, currently studying at University. This genre of magazine is useful to that target audience because it could count as extra reading for university courses and also adds a new, modernised interest into the whole classical music genre.
Obiviously to keep the theme of the genre and make the magazine flow-i will research classical artists and composers that will fit into the classical brief, that i can use into my magazine.
Popular people could be old composers-such as Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, whom composed the famous music for wworldwide ballet's such as the 'Nutcracker and swan lake', or current classical composers such as Max Richter, whom re-composed the famous 'four seasons'
In addition i could include interviews or images from more up to date classical artists such as Katherine Jenkins. These will all attract the audience whom are interested in the classical genre, and will also engage the reader and attract them to the magazine.
I will aim to have a specific colour scheme, to my magazine that will run throughout the front cover, contents page and double page spread. This will keep the flow to the magazine and hopefully avoid confusion and of course fit within the classical genre. This will also follow the same applications which the typography i use-the same sort of typography will be used throughout all the pages i make however obiviously, it may differ in size, like the masthead and cover lines. I will do research into typography and colour schemes later on in the task. This will be an important feature to reserach and should take influence from other existing music magazines on the market.
It is important because the use of colours will attract my target audience and make my whole magazine appealing.
The price of my magazine will be £2-£3, as this is the reasonable price suggested my results from my questionnaire. In addition the frequency of issue will be monthly rather than weekly, which is a common convention of many classical music magazines i have reserach and analyised.
The images i use will be of friends or family, that resemble my reader profile i have already created further on down on my blog. I will mainly use females-as that was the gender of my 'reader' profile. Furthermore i may give a slight interaction of the 'male gaze' theory that will attract the young male audience further, however i also want to have a slight postmodernist tinge to it, that will challange the usual precomseption of classical music.
By producing this brief i have given myself a plan of what needs to be included in my magazine and how i can achieve this.

RESPONSE TO
CHANEL ADVERT:
The Chanel advert,
featuring Kiera Knightly in a nude stance, ultimately challenges Friedan’s
‘feminine mystique’ theory and the stereotypical view of how women should be.
In the advertisement, the idea of a postmodern woman is being visually
expressed.
The image, somewhat
supports Mulvey’s theory of the ‘male gaze’ as he suggests, the camera is shot
from a male viewpoint, lingering and emphasising the female qualities that are
associated with sex and their sexuality. In this example, this is partially
true as, Kiera Knightly, is displaying her breasts to somewhat support the
lingering of the camera on the sexual anatomy, of the women, suggested in
Muvely’s theory of the male gaze. For the reason that Kiera is at the forefront
of the image, her breasts being the main emphasis and attraction in the image,
Muvely’s theory is being strengthened and the idea of the male society being
the main audience viewing this is highlighted. However differently the male
gaze suggests that the gazer is the only person in power and the person being
gazed upon in this case, keira knightly is lacking in power. This image
challenges that, as we can see from Keira Knighltys masculine dress code of the
suit and braces that she is gaining power and in this case, although
highlighted sexually by her breasts and nudity in the image, she is making a
conscious choice to undress herself and present herself in the sexual way-she
in turn is being presented in.
Due to the costume
code, keira knightly’s displaying, the advertisement is supporting most-modern
ideas and challenging Friedan’s feminine mystique theory. The post-modern twist
comes from the costume code, of a suit and braces being worn, which is
associated with male dress-immediately making knightly more powerful, and
highly viewed upon. The costume code, of which is being exhibiting further, challenges
Friedan’s theory; of which suggests that women in the media are extremely
domesticated and are illustrated in a ‘housewife’ stance and setting. The suit
and braces, are masculine items of clothing and do not fit the traditional
domesticated women image of which Friedan suggests in her theory.
Conclusively, the
entire advertisement challanges past theroies and is mainly supportive of
post-modern ideas of women becoming more powerful and of a higher status in
society generally. Although, sexual uthanisms are made, not only by knighly’s
lack of clothing-but also her flirtatious, teaseful facial code and gestures
with her hand nearing her mouth, it does not meet the specified points of
muvely’s male gaze theory as, it seemingly suggests that knightly has power and
is making a conscious decision to undress herself and present herself in that
particular stance. Furthermore as she is not domesticated at all, it challenges
Friedan’s theory, so ultimately it could be referred to as a post-modern advertisement
as the presentation of women in this advertisement show defiance to the
traditional role and presentation of women.

Here is a moodboard i produced displaying current classical music magazines avaliable on today's market. Due to results and data collected from my questionairres i have established that my genre of music magazine will be classical. For this reason its important that i investigate and analysise current music magazines that fit within the classical genre. I can then look at which ones sell best and identify conventions, of which i could include in my own magazine.
