Dear Mrs Griffith and Miss Paterson,

For my AS media coursework I have to produce and present a music magazine of my chosen genre. I have chosen to produce my magazine according to the classical genre. For this I will have to take pictures that fit within the classical genre, as I’m sure you can appreciate I will need to use classical music instruments to emphasis My chosen genre, so that the presentation of my magazine, coincides with the classical genre of music.

After looking at instruments of which I could demonstrate the classical music style, I have decided that a violin would be very appropriate, as its very transferable, so I can carry it to the location of which I will shoot my pictures, and it’s also a very iconic instrument, which means I known how to hold it and what a real player looks like.

I was wondering, if because of your large amounts of instruments, due to your amazing music department that you so kindly offer to students to improve their extra curriculum abilities, I could borrow the use of one your violins for an hour on the 15^th of January 2015 so I could use it to take pictures of in my magazine. Obviously because of the delicacy of this instrument I will handle it with care, to ensure that nothings broken.

This is a copy of a letter i wrote to the music department, asking is it is possible to borrow the use of a violin in order to act as a prop in my photo-shoot. Due to the nature of my magazine it is very important that i clearly present the genre of music. Specifically in classical music, this is achieved by having an classical instrument present, which is why i had to gain permission from the music department to use one of their violins.

If the music department object, it will be very difficult financially and practically to get an instrument of which i can take into school, to photograph without supervision from a music instructor or professional. 

This is why it is crucial i adhere to the music departments conditions and advice, to ensure i do not damage the delicacy of the violin i want to use, as its free and i have the assistance of the music teachers.

Here i have analysed and shortlisted several outfits of which my model could wear when i take photos to be used within and on my magazine.

It is crucial that i investigate the stereotypical costume code of other classical music magazines, so i fit within the specific genre and traditional look.

The result of this will be that my magazine attracts its target audience and is successful within the classical music genre.

Here are my flat-plans demonstrating possible structural design for my final magazine.

I have gathered target audience feedback and also compared and analysed along side current classical music magazines available on the market today.

I have decided on the three flat-plans of which i will use to aid me when i am producing my magazine-although however this may change due to customer feedback from my mock-ups.
